Presentation Eve 16th March 2012:

I would like to say a huge thank you to TS Ocean for all their hard work in holding the presentation evening, you should be very proud of yourselves, cadets and committee they did a fantastic job.Well done to all the cadets who received awards you all looked smart and I was very proud to be a part of the evening.

Well done to Lotti from TS Bulldog for winning the cadet of the year and a special well done to MC1 Luke Foreshew for his award as runner up Cadet of the year award, we know how hard you have worked Luke to get where you are today, it’s been a hard 18 months for you and we are very proud to have you in our unit.I am also pleased to announce that I have had confirmation from the Worcestershire County Triangle awards that Luke has won the very prestigious award for Personal Achievement and will presented with his award on Thursday 29th March. Once again thank you to all involved from the cadets, staff, committee, parents, national executive members and VIP’s for a fabulous evening.         Sub Lt Jackie Cooper

20-22nd April 2012 – Field Training Skills :

The weekend saw Navy Training Corps Marine Cadets practicing their Field Craft Skills at the Corps Training Area in Staffordshire.

Cadets and Staff from Malvern, Worcester and Wednesbury Detachments, along with a prospective new Detachment from Derbyshire all took part in various exercises.

1st March 2013:

Cadets L/C Charlie Cooper, A/C Ryan Newberry, O/C Vaughan Griffiths, Cpl Jack Ormsby, L/Cpl Robyn Andrews, L/Cpl Luke Foreshew and Marine Cadet Courtney Jones and staff PO Shane Griffin, Sgt Stuart Ormsby and our CO, all agreed to spend the night in a cardboard box to help raise funds for our local YMCA!!

Our cadets and staff constructed their boxes into the shape of a ship, we even had a mast flying the NTC and Phoenix Company Logo, a few portholes and an anchor (it’s amazing what you can do with a few felt tip pens and plastic wallets and brown sticky tape!!) Click image to see more photos of the night.

We spent the night getting to know other volunteers and participating in activities such as football, general knowledge quiz, sing a long and getting to know you bingo. We had a fantastic night and managed to stay reasonably comfortable in the given circumstances, the temperature dropping to -1 degrees in the early hours of the morning.

The whole event was filmed and the cadets and staff are being invited back to the YMCA in a few weeks to watch the Film. The cadets made a lasting impression on all the other volunteers, even managing to recruit a few more cadets and potentially a new member of staff. So a big thank you goes out to all the cadets and staff for your efforts and staying power last night…
